The most epic year/2022 recap
JC Actionsports 2022 ministry recap:
2022 was a huge year of action packed ministry for the team at JC!
The year started with the JC halfpipe truck undergoing a full surface overhaul with SkateFlex which has given the truck a whole new life after a lot of wear and tear on the old surface it was desperately needed! The entire project was funded by a local Sunshine Coast family and we are so blessed to have such supportive people involved in the work we do!
Our first school tour was here on the Sunshine Coast in Nambour and surrounds, promoting our very first large scale event “JC fest”!!! We visited both public and private schools performing and sharing a message of hope to the youth of the Sunshine Coast. We were met with incredible excitement and enthusiasm everywhere we went . The JC Fest event was held in Nambour at a local church in collaboration with 14 other churches in Nambour, unfortunately on the day it absolutely poured down with rain and we had to move the entire event indoors, the whole team stepped up to the challenge to show our versatility by performing a very tight BMX demonstration on a small stage and bringing a gospel message to a very enthusiastic audience in attendance. The unity this event brought to all the local churches of Nambour was worth every second it took and every dollar we spent!! We won’t be beaten, and we are currently looking into planning “JC Fest’ V2! So stay tuned!!!
We were able to partner with Youth Alive for several large scale events as well as some local events and school tours, these included Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Brisbane and Sunshine Coast in QLD.
This opportunity to partner with Youth Alive meant we were able to take JC beyond the borders of QLD for the first time since 2016 for our first national tour. The first stop of the tour was the Youth Alive NSW event “All Of Us” held at the Hillsong Convention centre in Sydney, the team then jumped back in the truck and headed to Bendigo Baptist Church for a regional Youth Alive event. Following Bendigo the team once more got back on the road and travelled to Warrnambool and Portland for two more epic youth events held over two days. It was amazing to be a part of such amazing outreach events and see the ministry of JC embraced so enthusiastically by so many over the tour and the gospel preached in every town.
Last year also saw the return of FMX, with the truck being purchased and driven down from Darwin. We performed our first freestyle motocross show since 2016 at the Youth Alive QLD main event “Wonderworld” held in Brisbane at the Kingston Butter Factory. ( See video at the top of this page for a preview of that event)
While we saw the return of freestyle motocross shows we performed our first ever shows on our portable airbag bmx setup, with pro riders Chris James and Nathan “LANKY” Philps coming on the team and absolutely shredding it!
The JC team expanded with the inclusion of scooters in our portable halfpipe shows, this has brought an exciting new element to the team and allowed us the opportunity to highlight and encourage many young talented scooter riders.
We also partnered with local churches, youths and organisations to help outreach to their communities including the Mackay tour in which we partnered with Reconcile Life, to bring a message of hope to the community of Mackay specifically around the subject of Domestic Violence.
A major highlight for the year was once more providing shows and preaching the gospel message every night at the Lights at Lifepointe event leading up to Christmas where over a period of 9 days we were able to complete 27 shows and share the gospel to thousands that attended the event.
In summary 2022 has been a big year with some incredible opportunities to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to thousands across Australia nationwide.
We are beyond excited for 2023 and can’t wait to see what epic adventures God has in store for this next year!
